Specific Job Description

RMSL is a growth company with an outstanding job opportunity for an Engineering Team Lead. This position is full time, at-will exempt and will report to the Director of Research and Development.

Duties Include:

  • Oversee, mentor, manage, and lead engineering teams consisting of technical staff on project-related tasks

  • Work with engineers and technicians to design, develop, coordinate, and execute on cutting edge research and development projects

  • Help assist with business development opportunities through proposal writing and customer interactions

  • Contribute to the design, prototyping, and testing of novel energetics, munitions, ballistic products, and automated systems

  • Review experimental data to ensure accuracy and expectation of result

  • Interface with RMSL customers, teammates, and partners in a professional manner

  • Perform duties and other responsibilities, as requested or needed

  • Compliance in restricted information security regulations

  • Compliance in explosive storage and handling regulations, and rigorously enforce safe practices and policies

  • Development of safety process requirements

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule

  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, core values, and culture of RMSL

Required Skills

  • Experience with mechanical design in a relevant field (defense, manufacturing, AM etc.)

  • Extensive experience with 3D CAD design (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills and desire to lead projects

  • Ability to manage a cross functional team of engineers and scientists

  • Robust problem-solving skills, the ability to learn from doing, personal accountability, process-oriented, and a positive and professional attitude

  • Follows safety and standard operating procedures, and execute test plans accordingly

  • Researches and resolves problems efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner

  • Self-starter capable of performing assigned tasks with very little to no direction with an attitude of neatness, timeliness, orderliness, and accuracy

  • Ability to work as a valued cross-functional team member

  • Clearly communicates issues and roadblocks up the chain of command to maintain sprint scope, efficiency, and productivity

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office suite of software applications

  • Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; must be able to lift 25 lbs.; must have the ability to see near and far and work with a computer monitor daily

  • Required to bend, sit, stand, and lift to perform job effectively

  • Work and operate in an office, laboratory, and outdoor test range environment

  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary to meet mission critical goals

Highly Desired Skills/Qualifications

  • Military experience

  • Hands-on experience with explosives

  • Special operations experience

  • Product design

  • Munitions or Ballistics design

  • Robotics-Mechatronics design

  • Additive manufacturing (3D-printing)

  • Automation design

  • Programming experience (Python, Arduino, PLC etc.)

  • Design for hazardous environments

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years (Masters) or 5+ years (Bachelors) or more of relevant professional experience

  • Demonstrated project management experience in a technical field

  • Must possess U.S. Citizenship

  • Ability to pass an ATF “Responsible Party” background check and obtain State of Colorado Explosives Blaster permit

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

  • Employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, high pressures and temperatures, high decibel noise, energetic materials, as well as ballistic and explosive devices while using appropriate test and safety procedures with personal protective equipment.
